At the initiative of the mayors of Vareš and Kakanj, supported by the SERDA and REZ development agencies, a working group for the revitalization of the Royal Town of Bobovac was set up and seven meetings were held. Based on the decision of the Assembly of SERDA Agency of 28.12.2006 and the adopted revised Regional Development Strategy for central BiH, as well as attitudes of Vareš and Kakanj municipalities and all participants of the Revitalization Working Group of Kraljeva Sutjeska and the Royal Town of Bobovac, presented at the meetings of 19.10.2006 in the premises of Vareš municipality and 07.11.2006 in the premises of REZ Agency Zenica, it was concluded that the project “Revitalization and Valorization of the Royal Town of Bobovac and Kraljeva Sutjeska” is of general importance for both regions (Sarajevo Macro Region and Central BiH region). It was decided that the Protocol on mutual cooperation on the project will be prepared. The protocol was signed 24.04.2007 in Vareš by all partners in this project.
After the signing of the protocol, the Project Project Project was prepared and the name was changed to “Development of tourism and preservation of natural values and cultural-historical monuments in the municipalities of Vareš and Kakanj” with a special emphasis on placing the Royal City of Bobovac and Kraljeva Sutjeska in the context of the tourist offer.
The aim of the project is to create the basis for revitalization and valorization of the Royal Town of Bobovac and Kraljeva Sutjeska in the context of preservation of cultural and historical monuments and natural values, as well as development of tourism in the municipalities of Vareš and Kakanj.
